WSWA Strongly Condemns Yesterday's Violent Breach of the U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C., 01/07/2021 – Today, Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America CEO and President Michelle Korsmo released the below statement on the violent protests at the U.S. Capitol yesterday:

“Yesterday’s violence at the U.S. Capitol was an assault on our republic and an attempt to undermine our Constitution. Since our nation’s first President voluntarily left the office in 1797, the peaceful transition of power has become a hallmark of the longest standing democratic republic in history and respecting that transition must continue.

Having lived and worked in Washington, DC, for 20 years, it was chilling to see a building that, for more than two centuries, has inspired those who love freedom overtaken by violence. Yesterday’s attack was unacceptable. We must move forward together and find strength in our nation’s history of overcoming challenges.

On behalf of the Wine & Spirits Wholesaler of America, I offer my congratulations to President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris on the certification of their electoral votes and look forward to working with the new Administration over the next four years.”
