This week, Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation Week and recognizes the more than 7,000 truck drivers working for wine and spirits wholesalers across the country.
Their work is central to a system that depends on safe, timely and responsible delivery – from warehouse loading docks to neighborhood restaurants, independent retailers and local gathering places.
These men and women are an essential part of the wine and spirits supply chain, making safe, reliable deliveries that keep restaurants, bars, retailers and other businesses stocked for the customers and communities they serve.
“Behind every wholesaler delivery truck is a driver who plays an important role in keeping our industry moving,” said Francis Creighton, President and CEO of WSWA. “Our drivers are often the face of our members’ businesses in their communities. They work long hours, navigate all kinds of conditions and make sure products are delivered safely and reliably. We’re grateful for the work they do every day.”
For many family-owned, multigenerational wholesalers, drivers are more than employees – they are trusted members of the communities they serve. By building relationships with customers, providing dependable service and representing their companies with professionalism at every stop, they help strengthen the local connections that define the wholesale tier.
The work isn't always visible to consumers, but it is critical. From loading and transporting products to navigating local roads and making deliveries to businesses across the country, truck drivers help connect the products people enjoy with the places where they shop, dine and celebrate.
