WSWA Announces 48 College Scholarships Winners

Scholarships Presented to Children of Member Wholesaler Employees

(WASHINGTON, D.C.)—Forty-eight college student dependents of member employees will attend college this year with the help of scholarships provided by the WSWA Educational Foundation—a record number of recipients—the organization announced today.

The foundation is the charitable arm of Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA), and is supported by contributions from individual wholesaler owners, executives and employees.  One of the activities of the WSWA Educational Foundation is to support the college careers of children of association member company employees.

For the 2016-2017 school year the foundation awarded 48 $2,000 scholarships to students from across the country.  Click here to read a brief biographical sketch of each recipient including a photo and parent employer information.  A promotional video featuring video interviews with previous year awardees can be viewed here.

“American family-owned wholesalers have an eight-decade record of supporting their employees and communities and setting a high bar for philanthropic engagement,” said WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf.  “The WSWA Educational Foundation college scholarship program is one more way that wholesalers can support their company employees and their families, especially at a time when higher education costs continue to rise,” he added.

Scholarship Program Background:  All applicants must be a dependent of a full-time employee working for a WSWA wholesaler member company.  Applicants must be attending a four-year accredited college or university, or an accredited community college or junior college as full time student.

Now in its seventh year, the WSWA Educational Foundation has provided scholarships to more than 100 students since its inception.
