21st Amendment Ratified, Prohibition Ended


December 5, 2017 marks 84 years since the United States ratified the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and paved the way for the modern three-tier beverage alcohol system.

Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Announces Four Staff Promotions

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) today announced the promotion of four staff members: Bob Wiggans was promoted to Senior Director, Membership; Ali Prolago was promoted to Manager, Government Affairs; Elizabeth (Liz) Armstrong was promoted to Manager, Technology and Support, Meetings and Conventions; and Katherine Brown was promoted to Manager, Finance and Administration.

“The promotions of Bob, Ali, Liz and Katherine recognize their commitment to the association and its members, and their outstanding work as dedicated staff members,” WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf said. “They have all helped to grow and advance the association in their respective departments.”

  • Bob Wiggans joined WSWA in 2008 and is responsible for membership development, affinity programs and member benefits. Bob also oversees the organizations CRM member database and related platforms. Over the past seven years, Wiggans developed a robust package of value-added member benefits from scratch, in order to assist current members and successfully attract new small to mid-size range wholesaler members to join WSWA.
  • Ali Prolago supports the government affairs staff with all state, federal, and regulatory affairs activities, including the annual WSWA legislative fly-in, WSWA-Political Action Committee administration, and coordination and execution of WSWA events on Capitol Hill. In her new role, Ali will serve as a member of the association’s advocacy team. Prolago joined WSWA in 2013, from the office of Rep. Patrick Tiberi (R-Ohio) She began her career in the Congressman’s office in 2007 as a staff assistant and was later promoted to Scheduler and Executive Assistant.  
  • Liz Armstrong joined WSWA in 2011 as an Accounts Payable/Administrative Assistant and was promoted to Coordinator, Meetings and Conventions in 2012. Now, as Manager, Technology and Support, Meetings and Conventions, Armstrong assists the Senior Consultant, Meetings and Conventions and Director of Expositions and Meetings with small to medium sized meetings, managing thousands of registrations annually, as well as selling hospitality suites and sponsorship for the associations’ annual Convention & Exposition.
  • Katherine Brown joined WSWA in 2012 as an Accounts Payable/ Administrative Assistant and was promoted to Coordinator, Finance and Administration a year ago. Her current responsibilities include project management, processing accounts payable and receivable items, assisting the Meetings and Conventions department, and providing administrative support to the WSWA Educational Foundation College Scholarship Program.
