WSWA Secures John Hofmeister as Keynote Speaker for 2012 Convention
Washington, D.C.—The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) has confirmed John Hofmeister, former President of Shell Oil Company, as one of the keynote speakers at its 69th Annual Convention & Exposition, April 2-5, 2012, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
At Shell Oil Company, Hofmeister headed the U.S. Country Leadership Team, which included the leaders of all Shell businesses operating in the United States. He became President after serving as Group Human Resource Director of the Shell Group, based in The Hague, The Netherlands. Upon retirement from Shell Oil Company in 2008, he founded and heads the not-for-profit (501(c)(3)), nationwide membership association, Citizens for Affordable Energy.
“John Hofmeister has extensive experience at Shell Oil Company, and is well suited to talk to convention attendees about energy’s impact on the global economy,” WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf said. “As one of the country’s leading experts on the energy industry, Hofmeister will be able to share with attendees the current state of that industry and how it impacts beverage alcohol businesses.”
During the General Business Session on Thursday, April 5, Hofmeister’s keynote presentation will help kick off the final day of the convention, which also includes the annual presentation of the Lifetime Leadership Award and the address of WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf.
In addition to WSWA’s traditional convention programs that include the Opening Night Reception/Taste of the Industry, the daily General Sessions and a number of networking receptions, WSWA will also hold its popular competitions: the “Call for Cocktails”: Mixology Competition, the Wine & Spirits Tasting Competitions and the Wholesaler “Iron Mixologist” Competition, all sponsored by The Tasting Panel magazine.
